Corporate law is the firm’s largest practice area and our corporate department has extensive experience in corporate and commercial law related matters, being areas where Cyprus is of particular impor tance given the tax benefits that Cyprus has to offer. In the corporate and commercial fields, the firm regularly deals with different types of commercial transactions involving mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, shareholders’ agreements, corporate finance and restructuring, listings of public companies at the Cyprus Stock Exchange and other aspects of corporate and commercial law.

Our firm provides advice to banks and other financial and investment institutions on various aspects of banking and finance activities. The services of our firm in this area extend to various types of financing and lending transactions using various types of collateral and security mechanisms, corporate finance, project and acquisition finance, syndicated loans and other types of financing projects and transactions.

Our firm has extensive experience in Intellectual and Industrial Property Law. Our IP Department handles a wide variety of issues in both litigation and non-contentious business. Our services include the registration and prosecution of trade/service marks on a national, European and international level, the registration and prosecution of industrial designs and patents (registration of national patents, validation of European Patents and PCT (EP) patents in Cyprus, SPC ), counterfeiting, passing-off, copyright and dealing with customs authorities. In addition to the above, we also provide the following services to our clients; searches for trade marks, patents and industrial designs, payment of annuities for patents, renewal of Trade Marks and Industrial Desings, registration of change of owners’ name ,address or legal form, assignment of Trade Marks and Patents, recordal of Registered User, opposition procedures, applications for removal of Trade Marks and such similar services

Our firm has an in-depth experience in all aspects of EC and national competition law. Our practice in this area involves the filing of complaints for infringements of national and European Community competition rules (including state aid) and representing clients before the Cypriot Commission for the Protection of Competition in respect of such complaints, preparing and filing merger clearance notifications with the Cypriot Commission for the Protection of Competition and generally advising clients on all aspect of national and European Community competition and merger control law.

In addition to the above, we also provide legal advice on EU law to all our clients and in particular on issues and/or conflicts which arise from the transposition of the provisions of Directives and other Community legislation into national law.

Shipping is also a major field of our practice and the firm provides advice and assistance on shipping related services including ship registration under the Cyprus flag, sale and purchase of vessels, ship financing transactions and other shipping related transactions.

We advise clients on various aspects of Cypriot employment law, including the review and drafting of contracts of employment, providing advice on termination and redundancy cases and also advising on the effects on employment arising in the event of a transfer of business, mergers between local entities and cross-border mergers, as well as in cases involving restructuring of groups and companies.

The litigation department deals mainly with Banking, Insurance, Road Traffic Accidents and Personal Injury Claims. Other fields of litigation include Employment and Labour Law, Rent Control law and Landlord and Tenant law, Family law, Contract Law, Intellectual Property law, Administrative Law as well as Debt Collection.
